School fixtures so far have pitted Charterhouse against Reed’s, Cranleigh and Kingston Grammar School. In spite of a number of cancellations fifteen Charterhouse Hockey teams have played fixtures so far this term, with some noticeable highlights. The 1st XI toured Exeter in the week before term started, playing Exeter School (5 - 3), Wellington School (2 - 2) and Queen’s Taunton (0 - 2) in what proved excellent preparation for the this term. A big thank you to Exeter University and all three of the schools involved in hosting us.

1st X1 v Reed's School

On: Wednesday 25 January
Venue: Home
Result: Lost 0 - 2

The first block fixture against Reed’s was heavily affected by the frost, but the 1st XI battled to a 2 - 2 draw and each of the U14 sides put in creditable performances, with the U14C’s Freddie Bott keeping a clean sheet in a 0 - 0 draw.

1st X1 v Cranleigh School

On: Tuesday 17 January
Venue: Away
Result: Lost 2 - 2

Cranleigh fixtures the following week also suffered from the weather, with all senior matches postponed, but thanks to the fine work of the Charterhouse grounds staff the U14, 15 and 16 fixtures all went ahead with narrow defeats for the 14, 15 and 16A sides and a brilliant 1 - 0 win for the U14B team, with fine performances from Petrus Desbois and Nyasha Konorubwe (in goal).

Charterhouse v Kingston Grammer School

On: Wednesday 18 January
Venue: Home

Mid-week matches against Kingston Grammer School included a thrilling 6 - 5 win for the 3rd XI, a 0 - 3 reversal for the 2nd XI, a 2 - 1 win for the U15A team and a 5 - 2 defeat for the U15B team. The 1st XI were agonisingly close to success in the first round of the National Cup Competition. Having held an excellent Cranleigh side to 2 - 2 in normal time, Cranleigh won a tightly fought penalty shoot out to progress through to round two. Stand out performances came from captain James Hockley and defenders Raph Boulanger, Harry Gilbey, Alex Margarson, Toby Cohn and Michael Gimson.

Matches against St Edmund’s, Hurtspierrpoint and an invitational Shafts XI (1st team) are up next.
