Charterhouse 1st XI v Eton College
Date: Tuesday 25 April
Venue: Home
Result: Won by 80 runs
Eton were our third Cowdrey Cup match of the week and on winning the toss we elected to bat on a dry surface. Gilbey went early but Rajan and Melhuish were fluent and ran well. From 62 - 1 we found ourselves at 105 - 5 at lunch as we struggled to adapt to the sluggish surface. Mahtani played beautifully after Melhuish went for an excellent 51 and with Wilman supporting well we looked set for 250. However, a rush of blood from Mahtani, who went for 57 and Short left us not using 9 of our overs in recording 213. Barlow and Singh started well with the ball and soon Eton were all at sea. Barlow bowling aggressively took the first 3 and supporting acts from Sam Browne and Mahtani and the innings was strangled. Eton finally succumbing for 133. A very good performance.
